Terms of Service
Last updated: July 18, 2026
What Valo is
Valo is a native desktop workspace for working with AI. It connects to supported AI engines through their command-line tools and presents them in one interface. These terms govern your use of the Valo application and any associated services.
Valo is developed and maintained by an independent developer (“we,” “us,” “our”).
Payments and billing
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
Valo is free to use. Valo Pro is an optional subscription at $12.99/mo, billed by Paddle. You can cancel at any time from your Paddle account — you keep access until the end of your billing period.
Free trial
Valo Pro includes a 14-day free trial. No credit card is required to start. When the trial ends, you can continue using Valo for free (without Pro features) or subscribe.
License
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Valo on up to 3 machines for personal or commercial purposes. The application is closed-source — you may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or redistribute it.
Your license is active as long as you comply with these terms. If your Pro subscription ends, your license reverts to the free tier. We may terminate your license if you violate these terms.
Your data
All project data, conversations, and files stay on your machine. Valo does not upload your code, chat history, or project data to our servers. See our privacy policy for details on what we do collect.
Third-party services
Valo connects to the AI provider you choose using your own account. We are not responsible for a provider's service, availability, pricing, or terms. Your use of Claude is governed by Anthropic's terms of service, and your use of Codex is governed by OpenAI's terms of use. Local models and their tooling are governed by their respective licenses and terms.
What we connect to
Valo itself makes two outgoing connections:
updates.getvalo.dev— app update checkslicensing.getvalo.dev— license validation + anonymous launch ping (app version, platform, CPU architecture, random install ID, the furthest first-run setup step reached, and the provider setup route taken — the last two are fixed-list words)
No names, no email, no file paths, no message content, no IP address stored. You can verify this yourself — see our FAQ for instructions.
Disclaimer
Valo is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the application, including but not limited to data loss, interruption of work, or issues caused by third-party services.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you through the application or by email. Continued use of Valo after changes constitutes acceptance.
